Corning New Car Dealers Payday Dollar Sticker

Corning Sticker Description
This sticker has a silver background with and alternates between red and silver lettering. Written on the sticker are the words “PAYDAY DOLLAR Paid by CORNING NEW CAR DEALERS BUY AT HOME”.

History
This coin was a payday dollar given to employees of the Corning Dealership. The idea with these coins was that employees would take these coins and spend them in the local town. Once in circulation these coins were a good way to advertise the importance of buying local. I have tried to track down the exact dealership, but to date I have not been able to. There are several Corning dealerships in Corning California, but there are also other towns named Corning in New York, Wisconsin, and Kansas just to name a few. Most likely this coin is either from Corning New York or Corning California. My gut feeling is that this stickered dollar is from California.

This coin is the only one like it that I have seen. There are most likely more out there, so if you see one it might be worth picking up.

About:
This stickered coin contains a gold sticker with maroon lettering reads “Where dollar Values Are the Biggest B.P.O.E. NO. 214 Great Falls MONT.” The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks(B.P.O.E.) #214 still exists today in Grand Falls Montana. This coins is rather rare but lack the subject matter to make it overall valuable. This coin would appeal to collectors that like unique stickered coins.

History:
I do not know much about this coin, but I think it is from the late 50’s. It was most likely created as an advertisement piece for a fund raising bazaar or fair put on by the Elks.

About:
This sticker reads:”TIETON LION’S DAY JUNE 21 & 22 FUN FOR ALL”. This sticker is in really bad condition, but I still wanted to post a record of this coin as it is the only one I have seen.

History:
I believe this coin is from the late 1940 or early 1950s and was created by the Lion’s club of Tieton Washington. This coin was most likely created for some kind of community fair put on by the local Lion’s club. If you have any more information on this coin please leave a comment.

Silver Dollar Bar at the Wagon Wheel Lodge

About:
This sticker reads: “THE SILVER DOLLAR BAR AT THE WAGON WHEEL LODGE ROCKTON, ILLINOIS”. I have this sticker on both a Morgan and Peace dollar. These coins can be found on Ebay and coin shows, so unless you just have to have it then wait for a sticker that is of good quality. The coins shown here are a Peace dollar and Morgan. I believe these coins were a souvenir pieces and probably dates from the 1950s.

History:
The Wagon Wheel Lodge opened by Walt Williamson in 1936. He had the 240 room lodge built from old bridge timbers and telephone poles. The lodge had 240 rooms and 4 furnished apartments. It included 4 dining rooms, 4 cocktail lounges, golf course and year round swimming pool. There was also indoor ice skating and riding stables. The lodge was open the entire year.

Lake of The Ozarks Silver Anniversary Sticker

About:
This coin reads “1931 – 1956 Lake of the Ozarks”. On the coin there is a silver flag pole and flag with contains the “25th” with the words “Silver Anniversary” over the top. I have not seen another one of these coins, but my feeling is that there are more out there. Do you have one of these coins? I would love to hear about it.

History:
In August of 1929 the construction of the 2,543 foot Bagnell Dam was started. The construction of the Dam took less than 2 years to complete, and was finished in April of 1931. The Bagnell Dam created the Lake of the Ozarks, which at the time was the largest man made lake in the world. This stickered coin was created as a commemorative piece in 1956 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the construction of Bagnell Dam.

1965 Lake Placid N.Y. Lions Silver Dollar Sticker

About:
This coin reads “Lake Placid, N.Y. in ’65”, and contains the Lions International logo all in red. These dollars come up at auction and coin shows and are not considered rare. I’ve personally seen a few of these coin and they all contain the white strip running over the top of the Lions International logo.
Because this coin contains a graphic it is considered to be more desirable. It would be attractive to both stickered dollar collectors and those who collect Lions memorabilia.

History:
I am currently requesting information from the Lake Placid Loins.

Utah Bee Hive State Silver Dollar

About:
The image below does not do the sticker justice. The gold foil reflected the light when the coin was scanned and gave it a hazy look in the image. I have personally only seen two of these coins. It is interesting that the word Beehive is made into two words “BEE HIVE” on the coin.
The small sticker size brings down the value of this coin. I would have loved to see this sticker fill the whole coin with a nice beehive image. Either way this is a rare stickered coin and a nice to have in my collection.

History:
In 1959 Utahans voted to make the Beehive the official state emblem. This coin would have been stickered to celebrate that event. It was most likely sold as a souvenir piece to tourist and those excited about the Beehive being adopted.

Pheasant Run Lodge Stickered Dollar

About:
The Pheasant Run Lodge Morgan dollar depicts a man’s sword lifting a rather large lady’s dress. These kind of stickered dollars are hard to come by and are extremely collectable due to there none standard content. Anytime a sticker is more than text it pulls a much larger premium. The more exciting the image the more collectors will want to own it. I’ve personally never seen another one of these coins.

History:
The Pheasant Run Lodge opened in 1963 and was built to be a entertainment resort for people in and around Chicago looking to get away for a vacation. These adult themed coins would have been created as a gift shop item in the mid 1960s. The resort is still operational today.

Souvenir Of Massadona Colo Silver Dollar

About:
This coin is pretty rare as I have only seen this one coin. The banner sticker for this coin is the common banner, but contains a rather unique landmark. While I would much prefer to have a perfect sticker, this coin in my eyes is highly collectable.

History:
I would love to know the history of this coin. I’ve done some research on the town of Massadona and I don’t believe the town currently exists. The closest town from Massadona is Dinosaur Co, which is about 20 miles away. I think that back during the 1950s there might have been a gas station/camp ground that might have created these coins as a way to advertise.

Lady Luck Sticker Dollars

About:
The Lady Luck stickered dollars are some of the most common coins that can be found. This is a common coin for those starting out their collection. I have seen these stickers in $2, $2.50, $3.00, $4.50 and $5.00 denominations. There most likely are more, which based on the dollar amount on the sticker would/could substantially add to the coins value.

These coins can have several different sticker variations. Some stickers have Las Vagas Nev on them where others leave out the location all together. The images below are a good example of what you might find.

History:
These coins were used by the Lady Luck Casino in slot machines as payout coins. They could then be exchanged for the dollar amount. Many visitors would keep these coins as a memento of their trip.

Note:If you have any more history of these coins or a story about these coins please leave a comment.
